Conditions of use

Conditions of use.

Our skip hire services are provided under the following conditions, agreed between Henry Woods Waste Management Ltd and the customer at the point of hire.

Henry Woods skip — illustrated

We only deal in level loads, and the containers we supply are provided in accordance with the customer's needs and requirements. By hiring a skip from us you agree to the following conditions.

1. Placing a skip on the public highway

Where a container is to be placed on a public road, pavement or verge, permission must be obtained from the highway authority in line with Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980. Customers are responsible for adhering to the provisions of the Act. If the skip is on your own private property, no permit is required. We are happy to arrange the council permit on your behalf where one is needed.

2. Loss, claims and costs

The customer will reimburse the Company for any loss, claims or costs arising in connection with our vehicles while they deliver or collect containers.

3. Damage or theft of the container

The customer is liable to reimburse the Company if a hired container is stolen or damaged, regardless of the circumstances in which the incident occurs. Where any injury is caused to a person through use of a container during the hire period, the customer must provide us with a report of the incident, including details of the person or persons involved.

4. Lighting and safety during dark hours

In addition to observing the conditions of Section 139 of the Highways Act, any accident arising from a container being moved from its original position during the hours of darkness must be reported. Warning lights should be placed on the container by the customer to avoid any such eventualities.

5. Duty of care

Customers are required to adhere to the duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which includes keeping the container covered while it is in use for the duration of the hire.
